Helsinki Design Week 2020 will be held 3–13 September.
Currently, an international health crisis keeps the entire world captivated. Helsinki Design Week is monitoring the developments regarding this outbreak of COVID-19 (also known as the coronavirus) daily. At this moment, we’re proceeding with the event in September as originally scheduled. It is hard to predict how the situation will develop in the upcoming weeks and months and we will maintain to follow this closely and keep you updated if any changes occur.
The cornerstone of Helsinki Design Week is multidisciplinary cooperation with design professionals and enthusiasts. Working together is important to us. Find out how you can be a part of the next Helsinki Design Week.
Exhibition at the Olympic Stadium
Next autumn’s Helsinki Design Week will take over the Olympic Stadium of Helsinki. Its extensive renovation since 2016 will be completed by the end of summer 2020, and the renewed stadium will once again open its gates to the citizens. Open Call for Projects is closed.
Open call for programme events
Every year a very important part of the festival programme is completed with selected events from an open call for programme entries. These events will become part of the official festival programme and Helsinki Design Week’s marketing communications.
Arrange a fashion show or a guided tour, open your studio doors or hold a service design workshop – any kind of event is welcome.

Become a volunteer
Come join our team and get a behind-the-scenes view of how the Nordic’s biggest design festival comes together!
The application period for Helsinki Design Week 2020 will begin in May.
HDW volunteers will work in shifts before, during or after the festival. The total number of shifts depends on the events you will be supporting. Volunteer work is gratuitous and unpaid. However, all volunteers are entitled to lunch during their shift and will receive an HDW Pass. We’ll also provide a reference document for your contribution after the event.

HDW Open Spaces
Do you have a venue or empty space suitable for events? We would like to invite you to open up your venue to designers and artists looking for a temporary home. Through HDW Open Spaces, we connect event organizers with the right place to host their event.
